Default dual monitor card suggestions needed

I don't know much about mac's except they are better than PC's (grin) so I need some suggestions on setting up two monitors...I am tired of all this clicking on one monitor.

The system is a G4, with three total open slots...all three are being used (atto scsi, 2 mix cards).

The questions are:

1. I assume I'd be able to yank out my video card and replace with something dual capable, right?

2. Which dual cards would you recommend (cost effective important)

3. What is involved in setting up (besides the hardware part--are there any massive software issues, does PT come right up in it, etc.)

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Jeff,

my 2 cents:

ProMax DualHead for PM G4 AGP, 32MB.

I think it´s about 350 $.

regards

Jochen

The NVidia GeForce4 MX has dual monitor outputs and is now the standard for high-end macs. I would think that this would be the safer and/or potentially more compatible option seeing as though its the one bundled from Apple now.

The Promax card is great. Unless you want to run OSX on the machine. NO OSX drivers yet available for it. You can't boot OSX on a michine with the Promax in it.

Paul-I like your suggestion if that is the way Apple is going but I can't find any dealer selling the NVidia GeForce4 MX...

Can you direct me...or shoudl I just do the promax ... everyone seems to like it... will it work with OSX when PT supports it?

Hello Seller

Where do you have the information from that "the Pro Max will never be OSX compatibale". That would hurt me really cause I just changed from the Appian to the Pro Max very recently cause Digi said the Appian is discontinued and the Pro Max is the new dual card for the HD system.

Regards Wolfgang
