Default graphic freezes in mixer and edit windows

Hello,

running LE 7.3.1 with the 002 rack on XP pro with an Nvidia 6200 card.
Since 7.3.1 I get graphic display freezes in mixer and edit windows. In the edit window, mutes won't light up, the play button wont light up etc. In the mixer, when I touch a button there is a total freeze and I cannot move or change anything anymore. What helps in both windows is to maximize and restore the window to deblock it, but it keeps freezing when it is recalled from another window.
All optimizations are done on the pc, all is streamlined. It's pretty annoying. Any hints?
Thanks!

General Troubleshooting - Pro Tools 6 & 7 Win XP

Read it. You haven't obviously, because you didn't post detailed specifications about your computer as directed there.

Thanks but i've read and done all that, I wouldn't be posting here otherwise.
Now it seems restoring thw windows won't help alone, I have to switch back and forth between mixer and edit to unlock the freeze...

Which is why I posted the link. if anyone here is going to help, they are going to need more details.

Also, if you overlooked the instruction to post details, you may have overlooked something else.

SiS chipsets are not compatible with Pro Tools. This info is in our compatibility documents and has been covered numerous times here on the DUC.

Ok so what does this mean??? not compatible - why does it not seem to affect anything but the graphics then?
everything else works, and a few back and forth switches solve the problem.
So I have to buy a new motherboard??? Great. I really thought this hassle was over after buying Pc after PC, optimizing, tweaking, buying ram etc etc etc. for my years with Cubase SX3.
Is this likely to affect my workflow in any other way?

Some components listed as "unsupported" or "incompatible" don't effect all users equally.
Unfortunately, SiS chipsets don't fall into that catagory.
It's a real show stopper and a new, compatible, motherboard or system is going to be necessary.

As you've found, all DAW's have different compatibility issues. Before you move forward with Pro tools, make sure you follow Digidesign requirements.

Sorry-

thanks JMS40 for your reply.
But - i've just been editing and recording for 2 hours without a single "showstopper", meaning no problem at all once the freezes were gone. So I just don't see in what sense my chipset should be a severe problem?
Thanks for any explanation...
