Ableton Live - Digi version; No Sound
Can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere.
I can't seem to get any sound output out of Live. When I open it w/out MBox connected I get no option for sound in the Audio preferences menu in "preferences". So I figure I need to have the Mbox connected for it to work. With the Mbox connected, I get the choice for Direct I/O, but when I press play (with the Demo for example or some samples) I get no audio output anywhere (either out of the computer or the Mbox), despite the fact that I can see that it is playing. Finally when I open PT 6.1 first and try to use Live as an insert it does come up in the plug list, but it doesn't launch the application, I just get the Rewire box showing Live as the selected insert- but nothing else happens. Can anyone help me with what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance. PowerBook G4 867; 640 MB RAM Mbox; PT 6.1 |

Re: Ableton Live - Digi version; No Sound
IMHO, Live the Digi edition is pretty worthless. One day I can stretch sound the next day NO GO??? You can't record into it and you can't edit. So the only thing I see that can be done with it is Stretch Sound..................on some day's!
And another thing is the goofy kindergarten looking interface??? What's up with the Atari video game? Lame! -----------------

Re: Ableton Live - Digi version; No Sound
As a plugin...
when the rewire box comes up, are you choosing a output? Click on the box....I think it says "no output" and choose your output. If I am not mistaken....I think then you have to launch Live after doing this.....and it will slave to Pro Tools. Personally I am slowly learning to like Live...creating my own loops and using them in Live is becoming really helpful in my composing....

Re: Ableton Live - Digi version; No Sound
Hey Twinstream-
Thanks. I think I'm about halfway there now. I am opening Live AFTER I open the insert in ProTools and now Live shows that it is acting as a slave to PT. So far so good. (I assume that means I can't work in Live without having the hardware attached? Bummer) Anyway, I still cannot get audio out. Any chance you (or someone) could walk me through it? It's very frustrating. I thought I understood this, but let's say I choose Bus 7 in the Pro Tools Audio Track insert for Live output- what next? Thanks again- |

Re: Ableton Live - Digi version; No Sound
Hello,
Sorry I am doing this from memory (@work) but I usually create a stereo track in Pro Tools first. Put the live plugin in....up comes the rewire box and I click the output box and choose left/right channels 1&2. I load Live and then you should hear sound at that point coming from live to PT. This is even better... http://www.ableton.com/index.php?mai...iveandprotools
