Default HD Native PCIe & OMNI works on PT11 (Non HD version)

Morning all
Can anyone tell me if HD Native PCIe and Avid OMNI HD Interface
will work on the non HD version of PT11?
(Reason Im asking is because I bought both items standalone without PT11HD
and cannot afford the HD version)

(Im currently running PTHD8 and HD1 ,96i )
as a another option can anyone tell me US price of PTHD8 to PTHD11 upgrade --can you do this with no hardware exchange involved?

thanks in advance
David

Hi

You need a HD software to be able to run HDN with PCIe and interface and with the plain "Vanilla" PT11 you won't be able to run the HDN gear.

I think regarding to your second question that the upgrade price is in this link:

I think you can get a second hand PTHD11 license bundle for less than 1500 USD on ebay or here on the forum

Best of Luck
Christopher

A couple of people claimed that this does in fact work with regular PT11, but I wouldn't spend the money on it until that could be verified.

As for upgrading from HD8, there is no direct upgrade path. The only thing you could do is upgrade from HD8 to HD10 for $1500, and then HD10 to HD11 for another $599.

By that time, you will probably have spent more than you would have if you had just bought a brand new system.

I used to share a studio with another engineer and he would be able to use the Omni with a PT 10 vanilla license when my HD License was not available. He'd lose the HD software features but was able to use the Omni OI. Not sure if it still works with 11.

that is very interesting about using HD Native PCIe and OMNI on PT10 standard license

Will the Native PCIe and ONMI work as a sound card for Ableton Live 9 if i did not
wish to use rewire?

thanks in advance

It can already do that anyway, regardless of what's been discussed here.

Just like any Avid interface, you can use the HD Native system with any software or DAW, via Core Audio. Just not at the same time as Protools, obviously.

I also have a PCIx PT HD system and 96i
Could I use that setup with core audio or is it only the OMNI and HD Native PCIe

This hardware is not compatible with PT11 in any form.

Something to remember about the software in 9/10/11. The installation actually installs ALL features. Its the iLok asset that tells Pro Tools which features to enable when you open the program. If I put my iLok(with an HD asset) in my friend's machine, where he installed non-HD software with his 003, it will open as Pro Tools HD, with all the associated features(other than the max input count or DSP plugins)
