Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
If you’re gonna go with the external audio interface and then another analog to Dante out, then skip the middle man and go with this if you don’t want to deal with DVS.

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
I have the I/O card in my 2019 MP, but I opted to use an old MOTU Ultralite Traveler interface just for Sys Audio.
That said, I just picked up the MTRX Studio and will eventually be doing Sys Audio via Dante.

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
i use a Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K for video playback (via Thunderbolt on a 2013 MacPro Trashcan). i feed the AES out of the Blackmagic into my MTRX and have it configured as a stereo source in DADman on my S6 MTM. i then have it configured as the default sound output in my Mac system preferences. works great, and works regardless of whether Pro Tools is open or not.
hope this helps.

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
Thanks everyone for the replies.
I have a 2019 Mac Pro, so not optical out, unfortunately. With my OMNI I was coming out of the headphone port into a Radial J+4 but I was hoping to not waste the inputs. I was just sort of thinking the Dante solution might be a good one but there are a lot of people grumbling about it so analog might be easier. That said, I have an Aja KONA LHi. There might be a more elegant solution with that. Thanks again.

Hi Jeff - I'm trying to wrap my head around a solution to this issue for a client's setup that has a full MTRX with some Dante hardware interfaces (IOW, Dante is already running on this system and is part of the DADMan setup). What would be the 'approved' way of getting CoreAudio into this setup (without additional hardware)? Since it's not my system, I'm not looking at it right now - the solution may be obvious, but would love a little guidance here. Thanks! rich

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
Well that's pretty simple. Without hardware = DVS. With hardware = various digital audio devices which include a hardware Audinate chipset. Alternative discussions here have been about clocking a device (like a video peripheral) externally via AES and having it simply follow the rate change introduced by master clock = MTRX.
So for CoreAudio software based Dante connections - DVS is pretty much it. Jeff |

Re: Playing Mac Audio Through MTRX Studio
I've been using RME HDSPe AES card for just this purpose, I got sick of Dante not switching with changing samplerates etc... so now the AES card looks at the incoming clock (from Avid MTRX) via input AES1 and switches accordingly. Works great. The sessions I get to mix are all over the place (clockwise), so to get sound (from my MacPro), I first had to switch the clock with Dante, which drove me nuts.
Can highly recommend RME HDSPe AES card, I see now your using MTRX studio, so probably your best solution is the RME HDSPe RayDAT card with ADAT optical connections.
