Black/blank video window on 2022.6 on OS 12.5

I was having a lot of problem with bounce to video since going M1 mac on monteray so decided to update the OS, and completely re-install pro tools (removed all related pref/set up files - a per avid instructions).
BIG PROBLEM> No video playback. Blank video window

Have tried re-installing, deleting prefs etc, deleting video engine prefs.

Really stuck

One mistake I have made is my OS is now 12.5 which is one point above the qualified version.

Any ideas?

Are you using any 3rd party video hardware like Blackmagic or AJA? I had video engine issues when upgrading my Intel Mac to Monterey 12.4, turned out I needed to update drivers and firmware for my Blackmagic Mini Monitor.

I had the same black video issues but on Intel Mac Pro-12 Core, 2021.12 Mojave

The following worked for me:

Go to /Library/Application Support/Avid/AVX2_Plug-ins and empty the contents of this folder if any.

Go to /Users/Shared/AVidVideoEngine and delete this folder.

Hope this works for you too.

thanks for the advice. No video hardware, and had already tried the fixes with the folder locations with advice from support. Still nothing! arrrghhhhh

Are you using any scaling in display preferences? Turn that off (go to default) for all your screens.
Change all your colour profile settings to Apple RGB (for all your screens.) Do these things with Pro Tools closed. Then open Pro Tools and check if your video is back.

I have recently seen a situation similar to yours happen: all black or all green. It seems tied to scaling or colour space (I'm wondering if this is linked to the recently introduced Avid's/AVE's colour space options for video display; though changing those around did not fix it. Only changing the operating system's scaling and colour space fixed it)

Hi everyone,
I'm having the exact same issue with OS 12.5 (M1 Chip) and PT 2022.7 and cannot find any solution. Was anybody able to solve the problem?

Edit: I could later solve the problem with reinstalling Pro Tools. Maybe the problem was that i installed Pro Tools before i installed Blackmagic Desktop Video
