MIDI Problems with Xpand!
Hi all,
I have encountered some weird problems with some MIDI recordings which I recorded on a MIDI track using an XPand! sound. While recording I could hear the sounds were played for each note. Playing the recorded MIDI notes results in "note drop outs" which is very annoying. I verified the velocity and the events and can confirm that the notes are there. I executed some quantisation on the region but no success. I have then used Cubase and programmed the MIDI track, imported it into my Pt 7.2 and it works fine. Anyone an idea where this comes from? C. P.S.: Wishlist: I would like a MIDI score editor and a drum editor for PT. In addition, MIDI regions/tracks should be editable in a separate window which can maximised (see Cubase). Quantisation functions must be improved!!! |

Re: MIDI Problems with Xpand!
Can't help on the MIDI issues, sorry, but as for the wish list...
Score Editor: Avid/Digidesign have just bought Sibelius, the scoring program company. It's not inconceivable that there will be a score edit plug-in/upgrade for PT at some point. I've not read anything at all to back this up, but somebody must have mentioned it at Avid Towers, surely? Drum Editor: This has been discussed before. The best solution I've seen is to use individual MIDI tracks set to show one single note. This gives you mutes and solos for individual drum instruments. You can region group patterns together. It's not exactly the answer, though. Full Window Editing: not really what PT tries to do. It's all on one window as much as possible because that's the way they think. Quantise: What's wrong with the quantise? At this point, I should say I still prefer to do my MIDI in Logic and my audio editing in PT. It's better to use each program to its strengths - neither offers a full solution at present. Sometimes I wish they'd stop trying to be each other (Logic 7's pitiful attempts to be PT just get in my way most of the time) and carry on getting better at their own jobs. Nobody expects to be able to dump Excel and only ever work in Word, do they? It's not that difficult to bounce between the two, either. |

Re: MIDI Problems with Xpand!
Regarding the score editor, as I expected, 7.3 outputs directly to Sibelius. It's expensive, but that's got to be the best audio/midi sequencer/score editor combination around, no?
