I keep getting the same error on installation
A year and a half ago, I installed a demo copy of Pro Tools on my machine to see if I liked it. After trying it, i concluded I wasn't willing to learn it at the time.
I purchased it three days ago, and now I keep getting the same error when i try to install version 12.5. It says: "incompatible pro tools installation detected. before installing pro tools 12, please uninstall pro tools or upgrade to pro tools 10.3.10 or higher" At first I figured it was some remnant of the old installation still on the system. But for two days now, I've been thoroughly cleaning the system: the registry, app data, temp folders, etc. I'm pretty sure I've eliminated traces of the old install at this point. But I keep getting the error. System details: Windows 7 64-bit intel core duo e8400 @ 3ghz RAM 8gb I tried calling AVID support but can't get through without some code they need. I opened a support ticket via the portal website. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

Using the Windows "uninstall a program" should have taken care of this, but its tough to know what may be going on at this point(and what you might have done by mistake). Your best bet might be to start fresh(reformat and load Windows from scratch). For future reference, the key to a successful uninstall on Windows it to go to Control Panel(Category view)>Remove a Program>right-click on Avid Pro Tools and click Change. In the next window, you will have 3 options; Repair, Modify, Remove. Select remove and on the next window, you have another 3 options; remove just PT, remove PT and HD driver, and remove everything(this would be the best option). Also, uninstall PACE 64 bit support(this will get reinstalled fresh on the next PT install).

I’m currently experiencing the same problem on Pro tools 2021.6 on windows 10. Any helpp?

I encountered the same problem, even after I uninstalled all Pro Tools softwares. I solved this by deleting 2 "Avid" folders in Registry. Foders' paths are: "HKEY_LOCL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Avid", and "HKEY_LOCL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Avid"
