Exclamation Loops don't fit with grid (if using zoom)

Hi! I'm new here, but I've searched for the problem I have, and I didn't find anything.

My micro-problem maybe is silly, but the thing is that sometimes I use the "loop..." option, the loop doesn't fit with the grid (but the original region does). It provokes a bigger error for each loop I add. It's a very small error, but with 20 loops it's out of tempo.

I noticed about it by using the maximum zoom. I think a couple of images will be better, so here they are:

my loops -> IMAGE_1

zoom at the end of the loop -> IMAGE_2

could anyone help me with this, please?

Not sure I understand what's going on with your problem.

But, are you recording the loops into Protools or importing pre-made loops?

Looks like your tempo is too slow. You can try stretching those regions to the nearest bar with elastic!

I'm recording EZDrummer grooves.
I set the tempo (104) and I record the groove, as it plays 'a tempo'.

But this is not the problem, because it could happen even if I cut a region. I mean, in fact I did cut the region to make the loop, and I do this in grid mode, so the cut is in a grid line, so it fits in the grid, but when I apply the loop, just from the 3rd loop on, they are losing part of the end of the region, don't know why.

Do you understand the images I added? First is normal view. Second is zoomed to the max, so it's a very very very small error, but it is.

Thank you for your help, I hope we can solve.

Sorry to say this but I think the loop tool is the worst tool ever invented in DAW history. I don't see any reason for using it at all.

To repeat your loop select between the grid lines and hit ctrl+D

Now that we have tool lock I don't even need to see that Icon anymore, Thank god.

It's good for when you're trying to write to a certain part of the beat. Like if I have someone in the stu and they are trying to come up with a hook, I can just loop the hook part of the beat and go make a sandwich or something instead of having to sit there and keep playing the hook part til they are done! Among other uses!

But for the OP, try recording a little past the 4th bar instead of just record exactly 4 bars. Then just copy/paste your 4 bars (omitting the little bit of overage obviously). See if that works. Shouldn't have to do that. For me, Pro Tools is always sample accurate, or extremely close to it. Might need a real slight fade here and they, but it's really close.

I've never used EZDrummer so I'm not sure. Wish I could help. Sorry

But just know that some "pre-made loops" may not be accurate as far as tempo and length goes. ex: a loop might indicate its 94bpm but may be something like 94.40 or 93.70, etc etc. OR if the tempo is correct in a 2 measure loop, the loop itself might actually be a tiny bit short of the full 2 measures as length goes..

In either case you will need to adjust the tempo or length for that single loop before you dub it. Time-stretching does work well on short loops. But you need to listen to make sure it sounds right. Not just looking at it on screen.

Whenever I record loop based tunes(keyboards, drummachines) I manually l line up things to the grid. Then I dub to extend the length of that part(s) as needed.

BTW, wasn't there a grid bug a while back?

I believe in prefs you can select: 'import with tempo' and while importing PT will make it's own grid. You don't select some arbitrary tempo and expect the sample to form to that grid. Then you can change it later and duplicate. (although some loops will not import tempo)

When you record the audio from EZD, are you making sure that the audio is trimmed to the measures prior to looping. THe midi data might be right on, but the audio may not be recording exact and you might have to spot it to a complete measure. I don['t use PT7 so in 8 it works right.

Thumbs up Re: Loops don't fit with grid (if using zoom)

I'm saying from the beginning that I CUT THE REGION, it has nothing to do with recording a loop or with the tempo I use. Just take a region, in grid mode select a couple of bars, then cut and consolidate, and apply loops. That's all.

CTR+D works ! :)

Thank you to everybody, this forum and guys rulez
