Old MC Control touchscreen dying

Hey folks,

Got an old MC Control V1 with a touchscreen that is dying, making an annoying buzzing sound which has already been reported on other threads. My question is: has anyone experienced this all the way through the very end? Does it die or stabilizes with a faint light or no light at all at a certain point?

I'm asking this because I'll not send this unit for repair as it will cost me a lot and I just don't care for the touchscreen that much, I use it for faders, knobs, transport and soft keys. I could open it up and just unplug the touchscreen like this guy did, but if it just dies then I'll just leave to its death! =P

I have the same issues with my MC Control V1 (silver) and have been getting the runaround trying to find a place to get it fixed.

I dont want to disconnect the screen, and prefer to get it fixed, but not sure how much it might cost, vs just chucking it, and using my MIX that still works.

Let me know if you have any success.
