OSX 10.4 ProTools LE 7.3 Launch Failure/Bouncing Icon on Dock
Hi there,
I've updated my mac os to 10.4.11 accidentally and now my PT LE 7.3 is not loading up and it's icon keep bouncing in the dock for a minutes and then stopped. i've checked the "compatibility alert" page on the official support page and find that i can try to use the "repair prebinding utility" or download and install the "mac os x combo update" to get the problem solved. Unfortunately, none of this 2 methods helps.... and i cannot go back to Mac OS X 10.4.9 by download and installing the combo update coz i already in 10.4.11. and this is what i got after i run the repair prebinding utility. "This software repairs prebinding on your Mac OS X system as needed. Prebinding seems to be OK on this system. Prebinding repair was not performed." Anyone have any ideas or suggestion besides formatting and reinstalling the mac os please? Greatly appreciate for your help! Johnc. |

Thank you so much for your help Xavior. i have just brought and installed the version 7.4. the icon stop keep bouncing but just crashed.... "the application Pro Tools LE 7.4 quit unexpectedly" please help.....

Dont think 7.4 will help at all ... this happened to me ... I guess this is coz of preferences being reset. I would always prefer staying on 10.4.9 ... For everything to work, I guess you would have to reinstall OS X and do it to combo update 10.4.9.
Will definitely help ... coz the same happened to me, and I was frustrated without any solution. So the quickest possible means is to restart everything from scratch ...! |

thanks so much for your reply Siddhant! ..... reinstalling the os and protools is easy... but i want to die when i think of i need to re-installing and re-authorizing all the other music production softwares, plugins and samplers....... anyway thanks again for your help. :)
i just couldn't believe digidesign don't have an official solution to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

yeah ... its a pain ... bad one! But a sureshot solution ... ! You wouldnt mind. Another thing ... I recall that this problem happened to me when I was resetting my preferences ... so ... dont play around with things you dont know of ... especially preferences ... !
