Default Supported Laptop/Cardbus HD systems?

Hello, I was wondering what HD systems are currently supported on a laptop/cardbus? I've searched Digidesign.com and the DUC but have found very little information. I'm looking at Magma cardbus PCIx expansions with a powerbook G4. Is it true that only HD1 systems will run? Anyone currently running HD on a laptop?
Thanks!!!

Default Re: Supported Laptop/Cardbus HD systems?

Hi there. There are a few of us running these "older" systems. I've got a powerbook 17" (G4) 1.67 with a magma 4 slot that works just fine with my HD Accel 4 card rig. We don't use it too much with the powerbook (mostly our dual G5 tower), but when we do it's just fine.

I think what might be confusing is the more recent chatter about the new Intel MacBook Pros. As far as i know, there is currently NO working solution for those wanting to run more than an HD1 on the new intel machines. It's a bummer, but i'm not about to hold my breath on this one.

hope this helps some.

Magma is currently developing a 1u 4 slot PCIe chassis, but it's not out yet. It looks really deep - as in, it probably won't fit in your average SKB case. It might fit in like a Pelican suitcase type of thing. Here's to new portable solutions (hoisting glass and crossing fingers)...
