Pro Tools LE 7.3 - MBox (and MBox 2)
iBook G4 / 1.4Ghz / 1.5GB RAM

I am using this for my bands live set.
I use ONE track of audio, and one empty track with Reason 3 on it as an RTAS plug-in.

The one track has about 8 audio clips on it, and it comes to about 30 minutes long.

The set just needs to play from beginning to end, while I control Reason from my keyboard controller.

IT ALWAYS STOPS WITH THE EFFING BUFFER ERROR! If this happens on stage it will be disastrous.

Over a year ago, we played tons of gigs with the same setup only it was Pro Tools 7.1. Never an issue. Now, we're back with a newer, more powerful laptop (old one was 1Ghz) and a newer version of PT LE, and it crashes/stops EVERY SINGLE TIME. We have never gotten through the 30-minute set without it stopping.

YES, I have done the troubleshooting steps. YES, I am an experienced user. Extra steps like disabling AirPort, etc have been taken, even though I never had to take them on the lesser computer.

Anyone have a good idea aside from ditching horrible Pro Tools?

Make sure Dynamic Transport is turned off in the Options menu. It's a new feature in 7.3 that I've found severely degrades performance and with an Mbox already being on the brink of the buffer errors, it can't help the situation. I'd disable that and see if you still get the error...

I looked, and it was never turned on.

We have about 7 shows booked, and they're coming up really soon. This is going to be a disaster.

Have you tried running that same session without Reason?
If it would play that 1 track of audio by itself without crashing then maybe an option is to just play that track and use another laptop for Reason.

What is the error number in the message? What type of drive are you using for recording and playback?

-9136. It's the common buffer error that we all get. It asks me to turn off plug-ins, increase buffer, etc.

There is no recording.

Playback is happening on the iBook internal drive.
