Pro tools is giving me an Error
"The operating system held off interupts for too long."
And it tells me to increase H/W Buffer, which I did but that didn't help. I made sure to turn off hyperthreading and it's running on a hard drive dedicated to pro tools. Any ideas Additionally, since I've installed pro tools, Reason 3.0 won't open (it asks for a CD now each time, which unfortunately, I've misplaced). Please help!!! |

Thanks for the response!
Yes, I've done all general troubleshooting, and specific troubleshooting I've found regarding this problem. I'm running a pentium4 3.5gHz 2 gigs of ddr2 ram 250 gig Hard drive (SATA) - dedicated to just pro tools Windows XP home mbox 2 protools 7 le anything else i'm forgetting that you might want to know? |

Re: Pro tools is giving me an Error
Get used to this error, once it starts it doesn't go away. This is the trouble with pro tools LE systems. It's a pain in the backside.
I've come to the conclusion that PC's CPU's age. In otherwords they don't perform like they did when they were new. Pro tools doesn't help because it doesn't tell you what the problem is. Raise the buffer, 5 mins later its telling you to lower it. I've just reinstalled windows, have nothing but pro tools/plugins installed, dedicated audio drive bla bla and still it complains. Such is life. I'd go HD but I don't believe HD is worth £10,000 of my money. You can guarantee if I invested that, 3 or 4 years later Digi would announce HD hardware is no longer supported like they did with my 001. |

Please follow these steps:
This will allow us to look at your system specifications to rule out any incompatibilities first, before we move on to helping you with configuration issues. Pro Tools has very clearly stated hardware and configuration requirements, and instructions. If you cannot (or will not for some reason) follow these requirements, then your system will not perform as intended. Ford motor company recommends that you use 4 tires when operating their vehicles. If you only use 3, it will not perform as expected. Ford motor company recommends that you use specific wheel sizes when operating their vehicles. If you use a different wheel size than they recommend, it will not perform as expected. Digidesign/Pro Tools is very similar in that respect.

Re: Pro tools is giving me an Error
You shouldnt have to disable Hyperthreading. PTLE 7 is compatible with it.
But, just like spkguitar said, make sure the compatibility requirements have been met. I would do a complete uninstall of all audio programs and then reinstall, starting with PT. I dont know why, but its seems to run smoother for me when I did it that way.

Re: Pro tools is giving me an Error
I wish Digi would successfully address these problems as I am sick to death of them. My X2 4800 processor and 2GB RAM should handle audio tasks without sweat - just like with energyXT or Ableton when I use them to compose and mix. Not in Protools.
I've tried all the troubleshooting options and I feel like asking for my money back for what I've paid for upgrades over the years and the trouble the software gives. Digidesign so often seem like corporate behemoths who treat their customers like rubbish unless they are buying their super high-end systems. I just wish some of their managers would read these forums, and I wish their sneaky mods would stop editing out unfavourable comments or censoring mentions of any problems (such as the Digi002 power harness problem). |

Are you still having problems? I looked through your previous posts and there's no indication that you are on a problematic system - your posts seem to indicate that you've solved any outstanding issues. I also see that you're running a RAID array, which is a known incompatiblity with Pro Toos and could definitely explain any issues you're still having. Also in looking at your previous posts, it appears there were several areas that did not meet our compatbility requirements, so I'm a little unclear why you would be telling us to 'address these problems' when the problems seem to have originated by not following the compatibility information we've specified. Managers definitely are made aware of problems originating on the DUC and, while there are far, far too many posts for us to read every one, we monitor these forums on a daily basis and try to address any serious issues as quickly as possible. As for deleting threads - the only threads we delete are those that voilate our terms of use. |
