Default Some Good Advice Needed ASAP>>>>

So I figured Ive been waiting for PT 7 just like everyone else. So now its available but I figured I better wait to see whats going on and how some of the reviews seems to be.... So in the mean time I decided I better at least upgrade from panther to tiger... I am wondering if this was a mistake cause I got a few issues here and it would be extremly appreciated if someone could please be of some assistance.

I was running 6.9 on 10.3.8 which was solid...... on a Dual 2Ghz G5 not to mention
Now Im running 6.9.2cs4 on 10.4.2.... Well there is a significant delay when I go to record, Im not sure what this is, I am assuming it might have to do with the H/W Buffer, if it does how do I adjust this? Also, Ive been reading about alot of spotlight issues as well as dashboard, so the next question is should I purchase SPOTLESS to get rid of the spotlight issue, this has to be slowing things down...And should I also remove dashboard if possible and how is this done??? Also are all of this things an issue for anyone who has upgraded to PT 7.... Please somebody let me know. Playback is fine, even when running a whole [bleep] load of pluggins, but it sure takes a damn minute for it to kick in and start recording... I never had this problem in 10.3.8... somebody please help!!!!!!

Im even contemplating on reinstalling Panther, and 6.9 again...somebody get at me, Im finally out of my musical slump, now I got friggin tech issues......

see this from "Those Wacky Widgets" by Ken Hawkins:
Try this on for size...

open a terminal window and type in;
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

then type;
killall Dock

poof the dock comes up and the dashboard is not running any more! If you have the dashboard icon in your dock the icon will be there with the <triangle> next to it like it is active even though it is not running. Of course to bring it back on;

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

then type;
killall Dock

ken;

see this from the description of Spotless:

http://www.fixamacsoftware.com/
from max cooper of the DUC:

"Introduction

What is Spotless?

Spotless is a simple utility designed to enable and disable Spotlight content indexing of volumes with the click of a button.

Spotlight content indexing can cause major slow-downs on volumes that are used for backup purposes, video rendering, Photoshop scratch disks, and a wide variety of tasks that involve the transfer of large amounts of data. Spotless can effectively and indefinitely disable the indexing of volumes that you specify. Even if the volume is a removable device, the indexing status is remembered when you remount it - even on a different computer!

Simply adding volumes to Spotlight's privacy list does not achieve the same results as using Spotless. You may cause the Metadata Server to crash, and the volumes may be indexed the next time you mount them. Also, while adding volumes to the privacy list disables content indexing, it also prevents you from finding the files by name"
from the DUC. it explains several ways to disable some features. may help some.
cheers.

I haven't tried it, but those commands mentioned above definitely require spaces.
