VST2RTAS problem
Help! Seemingly out of nowhere, ProTools 6.4 will not recognize my UAD-1 plugins via the wrapper. I have tried reinstalling software and different versions of the wrapper, but no luck. I have tried the special UA-only wrapper and the full retail version of the wrapper. Plus, earlier this morning I bought the Plate 140 reverb plugin and ProTools says it is inactive because it can't be found in the plugins folder.
Where would you start? Thanks, GregJ |

Re: VST2RTAS problem
Hi Greg,
I would check your Fxpansion/vst plugins folder to make sure the UAD-1.dll file is there. If not, do a simple Search for the UAD-1.dll(and any others that are missing). Once found, copy and paste it in the Fxpansion/vst plugins folder. Be sure to have the VST/RTAS/Configure detect them before opening PT. Hope that gets it. -Roy

Re: VST2RTAS problem
First , which version of the UAD SW are you running?
The UAD plugs should be installed in in their own folder(Powered Plugins) in your default VST folder on your HDD. For most it c:\program Files\steinberg\VST plugins. Copy the powered plugins folder to Teh Fxpansion folder C:\program files\fxpansion\vstplugins folder. On the VST to RTAS configuration dialog box uncheck search globally for VST's & then only VST's in the C:\program files\fxpansion\vstplugins will be wrapped. Make sure you download the Reg file from myuaudio for your recent purchase. Hope this helps.

Re: VST2RTAS problem
Well, I tried all the above mentioned suggestions. No luck with any of it.
I did figure out a workaround, though. I took out one of the 2 UAD-1 cards and rescanned (globally) for vst plugs to convert. It worked! Then I put the other card in by itself and redid the scan - it worked again. Apparently, the wrapper gets hung up when both cards are in at the same time and I try to detect VST plugins. Any ideas as to why this may be? Thanks for the replies, GregJ |
