I am using a Mac Quicksilver 733 running OS9.2.2 with PT 5.2.1cs (32Trk)
I am trying to export region definitions. I have done this many times before successfully. However the current file I have is NOT PLAYING along. I wish to export the files I have just mastered, and import the contiguos file with the region definitions into JAM and burn it TAO. This is a mix CD so i cant be importing individual tracks alas. What is happning? I have trashed pref's Re used the old 24 trk file. but to no avail. Can someone please suggest what is going on here? I am fairly competent with PT But i am flummoxed here.... |

Tell me (like I was your 4 week old) what you have done..
Did you BTD and create regions for each song? What do you have that you're working with?? Congratulations on the baby. Rail

cheers sir.
Inside PT, Bounced to disk a 16Bit dithered file. Reimported the SDII file into a 16 bit session. Made the regions by finding the start point of each track and hitting apple E. Renamed each region 01 02 03 04 etc. selected all hit the export region definition combination. Then tried to import the file into the CD app. which sees the file but not the regions. So i have gone back and tried the following. Putting the file onto a split mono track and exporting. nada. Renaming the regions. Nada. re making the regions usin Apple R and a slightly shorter region end ( so there was in effect a short "fake region" seperating the target regions. Sorry to be unclear here Guys, I am soooo goshdarned tired. thank you for your time |

Okay, when you BTD did you select stereo interleaved or split mono.. PT only works with mono files.. so create split mono.
Import the split mono files in to a new session, as you did. You then split and name the regions, select all the regions and Command+Shift+Y. Open Jam and select the left side of the two split mono (.L and .R) files.. not the original stereo BTD'ed file which you've probably been using. That should work. Rail

After exporting the region definitions.. Command + Shift + I and look in the audio file if the region definitions are there.. this will tell you if it's Jam or Pro Tools which isn't doing it's job.
You are exporting the region definitions to a fie which is on a hard disk (not CD) and isn't write protected right? Rail

Thanks RJR.
I imported the file into PEAK and saw no region definitions. also tried importing the file into a new PT session and saw no regions. also opened an older file with region def's from within JAM and saw the regions that existed in the older file. i believe it is PT that is being funky |

I've never seen or heard of any version of Pro Tools not performing this function.. I'd suggest you make 200% sure you're looking at the right files - check the disk drive and path of the files where you're exporting the definitions to in Pro Tools' Region List.
