Default Sound cutting out mid session

I've been having problems with the sound, it tends to cut out sometimes during some sessions saying that there is not enough power from the CPU (i am running a Macbook pro w/ a cme uf5 keyboard plugged into the usb as well). I was wondering if there was anyway to supply more power to my Mbox?

But lately the sound has been stopping and i haven't been able to get it back like before. I've tried quitting pro tools and opening it up again which does not work. So i am forced to restart my computer which is a pain. I was reading and someone said that its good to have an external firewire hard drive to store all the PT sessions which will help with certain problems. Has anyone had these same problems?
