Default M-Audio Firewire 1814 Sound cutting out

I'm using an M-Audio FW 1814, and I've installed the latest drivers. I have a Line 6 Vetta II combo amp plugged in direct to the FW 1814 via SPDIF cable. All of the sudden during playback, the sound cuts out even though all the levels are still going on all tracks. This happens randomly. Sometimes I can record for 5 minutes, and the sound drops out; sometimes I can go for an hour. The only way for me to get the sound back is to shut down and restart. Also, when this happens, the FW 1814 control panel window freezes. Any ideas about what's going on here? I've listed my specs below via Sandra.

Thanks.

Jason
