Default Resolution when adjusting automation points with trim tool

Hi DUC,
Long time since I've been here — I now only realize how much I miss it

I am trying to make fine, tenth-of-a-db adjustments to my automation using the trim tool, but unfortunately, I cannot get the resolution I want. Whenever I move the tool up or down, it goes in increments of .7 db or even greater.

In PT7, I seem to remember being able to hold down the command key while moving the tool up or down, and this would allow me to get the fine, .1 db increments I am looking for, but this does not seem to be the case in PT8. Holding down the command key while moving up or down seems to have no effect on the degree of the resolution.

Obviously, there is some user error going on here. Can anybody please offer me some advice on how to accomplish this? Just so you know, I looked in the Reference Guide, but after skimming through the 50 or so pages in the automation chapter, and not finding anything, I thought this might be the quicker route. Anyway, thanks for any tips!

Cheers,
Andrew

Click where you automate then hold command, and automate in fine increments.

When you have some automation already, and now you need to trim it by very small percentage, than you click, and then hold cmd (not shift) to tweak it.
Just tried it with some volume automation. It's definately cmd here.

No reason for the DA added to your post.
He said he tried CMD and it didn't work and asked if it changed with 8.
I am not on 8 so I mentioned that it use to be SHIFT TRIM.
If you have a older copy of the fold out Shortcut Guide you can see at one time it was hold down SHIFT key while trimming.

Oh, forgot that

First you need to click with trimmer, and press cmd after the click, otherwise it's only makes another breakpoint.

Brilliant, yes — thanks so much! I was stupidly using the grabber tool, clicking on a point, and then pressing command, instead of the trim tool. This explains why I could get it to occasionally work, as I guess every now and then I would use the trimmer tool instead. Anyway, I got it squared away, thanks again to all of you who replied.

I guess I should update my profile signature — now using an Intel Mac quad core with OS 10.6 and PT8!

Cheers,
Andrew
