HELP! PT freezing at session load!
Greetings all,
Quicksilver 733 PT 5.2.1 OS 9.2.2 40 gig Barracuda system drive 60 gig Barracuda audio drive 896 megs ram a partridge in a pear tree I've had a peculiar problem develop in the last couple of days, and I need to figure it out because it's causing major headaches. I have a session that I've been working on for about a month now, and just the other day when I went to open it the process froze at the point where it was trying to load the inserts for a particular track in the session (or more exactly - I got the tapping fingers of death from which it can't seem to recover). Now every time that I open the session it does this. The plugs on the track are Ren Comp and the digirack 1 band EQ. Other tracks in the session have this same setup and nothing is wrong with them. If I go back several hours in the session backups folder and open one of those, it works just fine. Just not the main session or any of the most recent backups. I tried saving a copy of the session to another location (after opening a backup that worked and bringing it up to date) with a different name, but that didn't help. I tried wiping PT from the comp and reinstalling, but no dice. I even defragged the drives and rebuilt the directories, but it didn't help. The problem seems to occur after a power down. It doesn't seem to matter what copy of the session that I use; it happens to any of them after a while. This problem does not affect any other session on the audio drive, only this specific one. What's up with that? Please - any help is greatly appreciated. -cheers

Re: HELP! PT freezing at session load!
Alrighty then, here's an update:
I created a totally new session, imported all the tracks except the ones that the comp was getting stuck on, and then created new tracks to replace the ones that I didn't import. I then repositioned the audio from the missing tracks on the new ones which gives me, in effect, a new copy of the old session. Guess what? Today, it doesn't work. It's doing the same thing as before. I just don't get it... The plugs that are on the track are on other tracks as well, and they load fine, so I don't think its that. The audio on the offending tracks isn't even the same as before (I ended up replaying the part), so I don't think it's that either. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
