Default PT8 : Access violation error, please help!

Hi I recently instaalled my free upgrade to PT8 but am now having some issues when loading old projects. When the project loads, some sections of the edit window are blacked out and when i go to click on the screen an error message similar to the two following messages appears-

Access violation Occurred, unable to write location
0x2B105520 at address: 0x1015B3c4 in module CFind.dll

or

Assertion in "..\..\Time\Time_BasicTempoMap.cpp", line 1022

Help would be greatly appreciated, I'm really stuck on this one, Thanks.

I had similar problems when opening a new session with PT 8 LE – not even tried to open an older session. At first I tried to use the Tech Support Utility but it messed everything up even more! So I de- and reinstalled PT 8, cleaned the database folders manually and after some more plugin-trial-and-error PT seems to run smoothly. Knock on wood...

As a first I'd try deleting the old database folders and maybe even the prefs. Try to use the utility. If it messes up delete that stuff manually. The how-to can be found here:

Please start with the steps in the General Troubleshooting thread and make sure that you install the latest PACE drivers and that ALL installed plug-ins are Pro Tools 8 compatible.
