Default Active Reference Monitors

I recently purchased Digi 002 and having trouble which monitors to go with. If I don't get a chance to audition them....
Here are my options or at least ones I am considering
Blue Sky Pro Desk 2.1
Yorkville YSM1P
Tannoy Reveal

Any commments from someone who may have the experience?

I have the tannoy (passive) and they are very clear and linear and price/value to beat most others.

If you can live with the 65Hz low end (that´s teh only down) then then they are perfect for a Project setup.
They have a very responsive and open sound and if spend some more and pair of hifi XLR cables they go even further (as every box sould do).

and they can be expanded with a suitable subwoofer for additional 30Hz down.

best

I'd add the JBL LSR6328P or a used set of JBL LSR28P's to that list.

I own a couple of the yorkvilles, and to be honest, they beat out the tannoys.
i went to a pro audio store with a steely dan cd.
i ran the cd on both the tannoys you mentioned and the yorkvilles.
they both sound about the same and have a similar freq. response, but the yorkvilles have a little bit more bass to them.

i chose the yorkvilles because at the moment i do not have a subwoofer.
the yorkvilles were i think about 150-200 bucks cheaper as well.

I have had the yorkvilles for about a year and i mix/play on them about 5 hours a day.
the only problem they gave me is that the speaker wire for the tweeter became loose once. whoopee. i tightened it back on. it took 1 minute.

I hope that helps.
cheers

Thanks to all!
I have spoken to a couple of local engineers and both the Tannoy and Yorkvilles get a good name.
The Blue Sky Pro desk 2.1 still a consideration though! More expensive but....I wonder is it worth the investment up front!?
Anyone out there have them?...Like them?... or have had the chance to audition them?
Or am I getting caught up in the marketing???

I used the blue sky monitors for about a year, and i never liked them. neither did any of my audio instructors.
the highs are very . . brittle sounding.
i'm not sure exactly how to word it . . . they just did not sound natural.
for the price i would definately look into the other monitors.

good luck

The best way to decide what speakers are best for you is to try them out in your studio. Send me an e-mail and I will put you in contact with a rep or dealer that can get you a system for evaluation. [email protected]
