When will dealers have PT8 to include with new hardware purchases?

I'm one of the ones that are planning to buy a Mbox2Micro and get PT8 included. I know it will be a while before dealers go throught the supply chain for hardware packages with 7.x still inside. I recall that back when PT7 came out that people buying a new Digidesign interface would get a cardboard box with the new Protools CD's inside. Is that the case this time? Will my dealer get PT8 CD packages to include with a Protools interface purchase? If so, when can I realistically expect them to have this in stock. I know I can buy the Micro and register it to get the amnesty email to download. I'm just trying to to help out my fellow DUCers that are frantically trying to download PT8 by not adding to the servers' bandwidth congestion. I don't mind waiting a few days to get the CD's and avoid the download process.

i too would like to know the answer to this. i am waiting to buy a 003+ rack (i am in the uk) but i dont want to have to download an upgrade because my internet is rubbish.

so i want to buy the interface and have the pro tools 8 software discs in the box ready and waiting.

I don't know for sure, but they should get the add-on packages to give with new purchases sometime shortly after dealers receive Pro Tools 8 boxed versions.

So, my best guess would be a few weeks.

Earliest dates UK dealers have is 18/01/09

Yes, Thanks for the answer. As opposed to only "when" it would be available, the main questions was more about "IF" such a add-on package with PT8 will be available. From you answer, it sounds like it will be available at some point. That is good. I keep checking with my dealer. It would be nice if Digi said something here once the add-on package is being shipped to the dealers so that we have a "heads up." Some of us have money burning in our pockets to spend on Digi hardware with PT8!

Hopefully, it won't be too long for you to wait. I happened to walk into a Guitar Center yesterday and saw a copy of the PT8 upgrade on the counter. Couldn't believe it myself since everyone I knew was having to do the download so I asked if it was available for sale, they looked up the bar code, sure enough, $149. so I bought it. With that in mind, maybe they'll start getting your add-on package soon!

My bummer, the wife is making me wait til Christmas to open it.

Well...kinda. You buy new Digi hardware now and you get 7.4 (or whatever the dealer has in stock). You register your product and wait for Digi to send you the upgrade email. The key word is "wait." Some folks are still waiting. When you get the email, then you can download the upgrade. Until then, you wait.

Yeah, I saw it at the Pasadena Guitar Center yesterday too. I was tempted to buy it but I remain committed to buy the Micro with PT8 as it is a better deal for me. I also hope I don't need to wait too long. Per the previous post by DigiTechSup, it may be a few weeks.
