Default Uninstalling OS9 on mt G4 - enhance Pro Tools.

Heelo all,

I just made the switch to PT6 LE form my Digi 001, upgaded my plugs, everything...im stoked.

However when I run over 10 tracks my meters stop getting jagged, perhaps I'm picky, but it bugs me.

Is this because there is whole other OS on the hard drive, I'm seriously considering OS9 and letting go of the past altogether...is this a wise decision, will my 867Mhz single processor G4 see a boost in performance, and if so....HOW DO I RID MY HD OF OS9???

Figured I'd post it here instead of making a inquiry to apple.

Thanks.

OS9 has no effect on your OSX performance, as it is not running when you are runnning OSX, as OSX is nto running when you are in OS9.

How much ram do you have installed?

Are you using a dedicated drive (not a partition on your system drive) for audio?

Hope this is helpful.

Deleting OS9 would be a bad mistake, in my opinion....

Hello, Jon One, et al.
You need another drive dedicated for audio. Preferably an internal ATA, 7200 RPM, w/ a good seek time. Running your system the way it is now, is definitely giving you decreased performance. Your OS' shouldn't be messing w/ each other. Get another drive and run your sessions from that drive. This will help immensely.

How to install a second drive into a G-4

Takes 5 minutes if you're slow.

Also, don't run other apps when running PT.

Hope this is helpful.
