How does that relate to thermal issues? Thrashcan can run CPU at 100% without a hiccup, but once you load those GPU then things heat up quickly

Bluetooth and WiFi both off , Dropbox sync paused .Or quit

.I use cpusetter. Not sure it makes as big a dif as it used to , but yes use that
Checking activity monitor often

got this from another group... theres def some video glitchieness.. anyone know more?

I’m managing on 2020.5 without many errors, also on thunderbolt. What I’ve found is that disabling the cloud functionality in PT, quitting audio interface launchers/mixers, disabling notifications, disabling excessive calls to the video card (clip shadows, extra metering such as the combined gain reduction), even a change of mouse can dramatically affect PT stability. For example, a session I am pushing to instability will be more stable with the mix and edit window closed, which suggests Avid really need a better video engine, or an option to adjust the frame rate of the metering... also, turn off autosave and manually be super diligent. Most errors seem ti revolve around disk access at the wrong time, or the disk cache being filled or emptied. Oh a high disk cache can help.

A lot of my SWODs seem to happen around Auto (or regular) Saves. If something else is going on at that moment, it all ends up borked.

A lot of my crashes are related to auto save. Still I keep it on... What is a crash now and then compared to loosing hours of work? Still, I save manually a lot these days... Definitely before doing crazy stuff like adding an instrument or inserting a power hungry plugin. Or even opening the edit window...

Hi there,

we had a lot of AAE and AVE errors and sometimes crashes.
Almost all of them went away, since we make use of Video Slave and disable the AVE.
We're using MacPros 5,1 on High Sierra and Mojave. Running fine with 2020.5.
Now we don't have to transcode h.264 for short turnaround productions.

Cheers
Maik

That one is an old one that seems to come and go. Seeing some odd bugs that usually got fixed that are coming back....
