The only time I’ve ever seen this is dragging and dropping a MIDI file from Stylus RMX onto a track in Pro Tools. The first note in the clip disappears and I found the weird thing is you can’t manually add it back! The workaround for me has been to import the clip, Consolidate it and then add the note, then it sticks.

Ah HA! Eureka! after your reading this I went and hit the "apple \" command and it appears that the midi clip went off to a playlist somewhere.. I sure would like to be able to access that playlist in the same manner that I access others tho... Any and all help in this regard would be most welcome.

Thanks!!

Any and all help is much appreciated in regards to MIDI!! Feel free to share tips and tricks if you like or links to resources! Thank you and your time is greatly appreciated!

I have no idea as to why avid doesn’t really put the word out about what the possibilities are on the midi side. Crap, there is even a FL studio type drum editor work around if you have the patience to set it up and save it as a template.

Dig deep…pt midi is way more robust than many think.

Thank you for this!! Thats reassuring to hear and I will do some digging and try to get my skills up. I will admit that I'm trying to mainly use PT as my only DAW where normally I would be using Ableton and then moving to PT.. Which may still be the answer but it would be nice to have everything in one DAW.. Anyways thanks for your input and any links or recommendations for resources is much appreciated!

This has been happening for years. And I am on that configuration and I see notes disappear daily. Using Midi all day. Tons of VI. Only workaround at the moment is too consolidate the midi region and make it a new one. Then you can move the midi note without it disappearing....

Also as others have stated. Why you can't have it in Clips view when arranging and a separation cuts the midi note?? Nope. Your screwed. BASIC workflow...

Midi needs an overhaul period! Why do all the composers not use Protools? "The Power to Create" as AVID says... Yeah right! The workaround is to use the competing daws to compose.... And AVID is the standard in FILM!!! Go figure!

Protools chokes with most VI's. With one track! CPU overload/Spikes with a 128 buffer! Solution... Use VEP to host the VI's... What!!! Come on now! Buy more software from ANOTHER company to be able to compose in PRO tools....

My systems are up to speck with clean installs and up to date plugins. Doesn't matter. Its PRO tools....

What is your fresh new BS system? Have you wiped the system storage and started fresh or just bought a new hardware from nearest fruit store?
