Default Apple Cinema 22" Display

Thinking of buying one of these bad boys.

I've been using a 21" Viewsonic for the past 3 years.

Just wondering what to expect.

Good, bad. Too expensive.

Thanks

Well, $2500 is not too expensive considering they used to cost $4,000 less than a year ago. The Cinema Display has (2) distinct advantages that come to mind.... SIZE... and clearity. To me, yes the size is important (oh I know that just sounds really wrong but you know what I mean!) for editing audio and mixing. The more I can see, the better... we have one setup in Studio A and Studio B. But even more importantly, my eyes easily are strained.... the digital LCD type monitors provide far better resolution and clearity and make it easier on my vision.

With that said, $2500 is still a lot of money...but if you have the money to make the investment, you'll be happy you did.

Produceher:

Your probably hip to all the connectivity issues which surround ADC monitors in general. If you plan to run dual monitors, redundant monitors, or monitors remote from your CPU - be very cautious about ADC. DVI connection also complicates this beyond the VGA world, but less so than ADC does. Searching this forum on the topic, and consulting the Dr. Bott and Gefen web sites would give you an idea about these special considerations. They're expensive and difficult to solve.

These are the issues that have me still running multiple dual VGA systems, at a fraction of the quality that the Apple 17"and 22" provide. But if you're just running a single screen a few feet from your G4, the 22 inch screen is absurdly fine. I don't think you'd regret the purchase.

Best wishes,

John Caldwell

I love this thing. Brad there is one other big advantage. LCD displays do not generate radiation (like a 'normal' monitor does). When working long studio days I consider this a big plus for my health

Speaking of ADC. Does anyone know where to get ADC extension cables?

Something to consider:

* 22" Apple Cinema LCD display:

Resolution: 1600 x 1024
Price: $2,500.00

* Two 17" Apple Studio LCD displays:

Resolution: 2048 x 1024
Price: $2,000.00

If you use applications that feasibly support two monitors, spring for the dual 17" LCD setup. Costs less. More pixels. Either way, the excellent quality and aethestic appeal of the Apple LCDs are undeniable.

Expect what you experience when you enjoy a Lichtenstein, an Eames chair, a beautiful woman. It is a piece of design art. It is an icon. It is sublime.

BTW, Apple is coming out with a new card that will support two cinema displays later this year.

I was searching for the solutions to run two Apple ADC LCD or one ADC with another DVI LCD with Protools TDM. I am saling my G4/733 and replace it with another G4/933 - in order to have the dual monitor support with one AGP card. It's an ADC and another VGA in one AGP vedio card. So that I have to get an Gefen VGA-ADC box to hook up two Apple ADC LCDs. However, I still don't know if this will work under Protools TDM system without -6042 errors ( PCI too slow ).

I will let you know when I got my G4/933.
I have one Cinema 22" and another Apple ADC 17" LCD now. I have to get the Gefen box to hook them up.

If you plan to use one monitor only, you will love the 22" LCD from Apple. I really love to have two for speedy the editing works ! The Cinema 22" looks great !
