Default os9 and digital audio

Has anyone heard that os 9 has problems with digital audio systems. Is 8.6 more stable?

I saw another thread that trashed 9.0. said it was junk. I have also seen several that list G4's with 9.0 that say their system works great. I too would like to hear what this informed group of users has to say. Thanks

I could only say OS9 wants more control: you can't allways quite follow what 'goes on'.
It's sensitive with PCI and other peripherals, but after some tweaking and rooting, it runs pretty stable !

I have a G4 450mhz w/OS9 and I have had no trouble with the OS. I installed the system according to the instructions and tried to do everything by the book. All the problems I have had were operator error in nature.

PS: This is my first MAC and my first experience with recording, unless you count sequencing on my synth.

Hello everyone. After talking to a few friends and a rep at digi. For the 9600 8.6 is a better choice. For the new machines 9,0 is ok. I have had problems with the system freezing up and I have narrowed it down to afew things. when I am done I will post it so no one has to go through this detective work. See ya.

If you have 8.5/8.5.1, you can download an 8.6 updater for free from the Apple web site.

No problems with OS9 on a tabletop beige G3 and no special system software tweaks.

I'm using a B&W G3/350, recently installed OS9. I'm having a lot of freezing during startup, still poking around to figure out why...if anyone finds anything, please post.
