If the new TDM plug-in that you buy supports Mix and HD hardware (which is possible), then naturally it will support the HD hardware when you upgrade to it. If you're interested in buying a TDM Mix-only plug-in now, and you think you'll be upgrading to HD in the future, then you should contact the plug-in's manufacturer about their specific HD upgrade policy and pricing.

P.S. Perhaps it's worth saying that "supporting HD hardware" does not necessarily mean supporting 192 kHz on HD hardware. An HD compatible plug-in may support 44.1/48 kHz and/or 88.1/96 kHz and/or 176.4/192 kHz.

Will any of the existing TDM Mix plugins work at 44 or 48 on the HD system?

Anyone who has purchased a Wave Mechanics plug-in (PurePitch, PitchDoctor, SoundBlender, Speed, or our UltraTools bundle) after Jan. 1 of this year will get HD/96k compatibility for free. The HD compatible versions will be shipping in 2-3 weeks.

To JLEpperson: No, existing TDM Mix (and DSP Farm) plug-ins will not work on the HD core and process cards. Old plug-ins must be modified by their manufacturers to support the new HD hardware.

Hmmm, "old plug-ins" makes them sound decrepit or something. They're obviously eminently useful tools with which people create interesting and great sounding audio. Heck, I'd like more time to play with all the plug-ins that are out there. "Plug-ins that shipped prior to PT HD" was really what I meant.
