Default Gateway PC, is it enough?

I am a generally new ProTools user and am wondering if i can grab some advice from the more experienced users out there. I run LE on a Digi001 and I was having problems with my computer, so i bought this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9579&rd=1&rd=1

It's a Gateway GT4026E, here are the features (direct from the Gateway site):

Intel® Pentium® D 805 (Dual Core) 64-bit processor with EM64T Technology
- Each core operates at 2.66 GHz
- 533 MHz front side bus
- 1 MB L2 cache
512 MB DDR2 533 MHz (PC4200) SDRAM (I bought an extra 1 gig of ram too)
Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 video card
Integrated 8-channel (7.1) High Definition Audio card
250 GB IDE 7200 RPM Ultra ATA hard drive with a minimum of 2 MB cache
Double layer 16X DVD+/-RW drive

I am using ProTools to record demos for my band and other bands, so i'll need to be able to use all 8 tracks on the 001 simultaneously. I don't plan on using plugins while recording, so i know that saves some processing power. From the specs here, is this computer powerful enough for my purposes? If anybody sees ANY problems with it, please leave a post.

thanks,
Ryan

You may want to disable the onboard sound card and add a second drive specifiaclly for audio. Apart from that, sail away ....

Default Re: Gateway PC, is it enough?

I would seek confirmation from Tech support regarding this chipset.
As of the last time Digidesign commented here, ATI chipsets were listed as untested and unsupported.
Note I'm not referring to the video chipset listed in your system description, but the fact that Gateway lists an ATI motherboard chipset for this computer.

It appears this computer comes loaded with Windows Media Center Edition.
That operating system is not supported or recommended by Digidesign.

Lastly, understand this computer is several generations apart from any offical testing done with the 001 and it's final version of PTLE (6.4), so you will be in essence doing your own testing. Even if all goes well, one of the processor cores will be unused as 6.4 cannot utilize dual cores or dual processors.
