Hi,
I'm duplicating my hooks at the moment and the hook loops before the previous vocals are through. Pro tools cuts off the vocals behind it not letting it ride out (The hooks are on the same track). Is there a way to let the track play out instead of overwriting?

I'm afraid not with LE. You'll have to create a duplicate track (plug-ins, sends, levels), and move the 'hook' part onto this.
Don't forget though that any changes you do to either of the tracks, regarding plug-in settings or any levels, will have to be changed on both tracks, otherwise there will be a distinctive cut between the 2 overlapping audio regions. Mike |

So, the lead vocal is holding a melody in a Verse that overlaps with the lead vocal in the Chorus? Is that what you're getting at? Shane

I think he is saying he has a loop that is for example 4 bars and 2 beats, but he wants it to loop every 4 bars.
If that is what you're saying: Opt 1) Put the odd loops (1,3,5) on one track and the even on another. It will play the finish of loop one on track one while starting the 2nd loop on track two. Opt 2) Place the loops so the repeats cover the end, like it sounds like you have it now. Then use a post splice crossfade set to the no fade or the curve that looks like the upper right half of a square. This fade will leave the volume of the outgoing audio at full volume until the end and mix that with the new loop. I hope that made sense. If I misunderstood you problem, try to explain it with a little more detail.

Shane I'm saying I'm in the process of duplicating my 'Hook' Regions
and I'm moving the duplicates on the SAME tracks. So when I moved the new regions in place it overlapped the hook thats already in its time and cut off the ending notes. I'll do a print screen to show you. http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/2600/untitledfi0.jpg

If the number of tracks is a problem, you'll have to first, put each audio region on a seperate track, like i said in my first post, then route the 2 tracks to a new audio track and record (bounce) the 2 overlapping audio regions onto 1 track, creating 1 region. This should solve all your problems.

An audio track in PT can only play one audio file at a time. You can use Opt 2 from my previous post to crossfade the two sections together into one file that PT plays.

That is what i said in my first post.
Hence the method in my last post, whereby routing would solve the problem. I'm afraid bouncing in PT LE gets to be a chore, but it has to be done due to the 32 limt |

How did you do this? Copy/Paste? Duplicate? I notice you dont have a grid established. Shane
