6.4 crashes when launching on new pc

hello everyone,

i just found this site and figured some one could steer me in the right direction,
i tried searching and couldnt find any relevant threads.

i recently had a custom pc made for me and tried to install version 6.4 with my original m-box..it installed fine but when trying to launch it my computer crashes and re-sets everytime...

i was able to borrow a friends cd of 8.0 and installed it and its been working ok with my m-box and pc but i prefer the layout for 6.4

im curious if some of my computers components are not allowing 6.4 to launch since its an old version and i have very new pc parts...here are some of my pc's components if any body can give an opinion or advise it would be much appreciated, im not very technically savy when it comes to pc's thats why i paid to have it built...thanks in advance



Motherboard.....Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Intel P43 ATX
Processor.........Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 1333FSB 12M
RAM................4 gb Kingston HyperX DDR2 SDRAM Memory
Video Card.......ASUS EN9600GT/HTDI GeForce 9600GT512MB
Hard Drive........Western Digital 320GB SATA2 HARD DISK 16M CACHE
OS................. Windows XP Pro SP3

There are a few more things to know about your system.

Do you have IE8 installed?

Could you please post a Sandra report?

This is an indication that you:

1. have not installed the 6.4cs6 update
2. have not installed the 6.4cs9 update
3. have not installed the latest PACE drivers from www.paceap.com

And as Tom has mentioned, do not, under any circumstances, install Internet Explorer 8.

i cant remember if i have IE on there if i do ill definately delete it

TOM@METRO- i have no idea how to do a sandra report..like i said not very pc savy....how would i go about doing that?

spkguitar- would i install the pace drivers before i install 6.4 and then install the 2 updates after 6.4 is intalled? also is there any certain pace driver i should install or are they universal?

sorry for all the questions i wish i could know computers like i know music software.....thanks for the help guys

one more question :) would 6.4 be able to utilize my processor as effectively as 8.0? and if so would it be better to leave on 8.0?

No. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure you're only going to be able to use one core with 6.4.

In my personal opinion, you are much better off with 8.0, but you seriously need to purchase it instead of using your friend's copy.

yeah i was guessing that would be the case i might be upgrading my hardware
soon but if not i will purchase my own copy i like to have stuff im using registered

also what about the pace drivers and upgrades what order should they be done in ?....drivers then 6.4 then upgrades? again thanks for your help

6.4, cs6, cs9, pace drivers.

Always do pace drivers last.

And download the the latest versions from the PACE website I might add.

While the 001 was never meant for multicore processors it's run great on my dualcore rig with cs9 and cs6. I frankly don't know what would happen with a quad core but tend to quess it would be fine. My DAE engine is set at one processor @ 99% and my buffer is set to 128 if that helps.
