Question Acoustic Guitar groove conform in PT8

Hi,

I am recording several rhythmic acoustic guitars who play exactly the same song, and would like to have them as tight as possible with each other.

I extracted the groove from one of them, and would like to groove conform the other ones to this one.

I am not very satisfied with the result at the moment, I probably did not do it right, despite the guitars are pretty tight in the original recording.

Could anyone give me tips in order to get a good result ?

Thank you in advance.

Fred

That's something that I have never been able to have success with. My solution is Elastic Audio. I choose the track that has the best groove/feel and then "fix" the other with EA. If you enable EA on both tracks, you can use the warp markers of the good track as a reference for aligning the other track(just choose warp view on both tracks). Watch the DigiTV video's on EA and then dive in. Once you make some mistakes and get comfy with it, you'll find lots of uses for it. I use it to tighten up BGV's all the time and I line up bass guitar tracks that drift away from the kick drum. BTW, sometimes, when you turn EA off and Commit the changes, it can induce some tiny glitches in the audio(depending on how far you moved things). The solution is to instead of commit, buss the EA track to a new audio track and record it. Then you can disable EA on the original and choose Revert and disable/hide the original track.

I'm having problems getting started with Elastic Audio. I run Pro Tools on Windows, so the video was only so helpful. Could anyone offer a quick tutorial on opening up the plug-in and applying it?

It's not a plugin....

My fave video about it is on HowAudio.com in the video "What's New In Pro Tools 7.4".

Once you "get it" it will change the way you record forever. It's really easy, actually.
