Default Did ProTools kill my hard-drive?

We have ProTools 7 (+ a few 192's etc) in each of the studios where I work. I connected a glyph gt 103 3 bay enclosure to the computer in one room. Someone else opened protools, went to the workspace and changed one of the drives in the enclosure from a 'Transfer' volume to a 'Record' volume. At this point an error message appeared (I didn't see it), and the drive has failed to mount. techtool pro, diskwarrior, and applejack have been unable to fix the drive. Disk utility sees it but I cannot repair permissions or verify disk or anything. When I attach the drive I get an error message saying something about it being an unrecorgnisable format.

Any one else had this happen? The contents of that drive are backed up so no real disaster, but I would like for it not to happen again.

Cheers

Ron

Hi minister, thanks for your reply.
The GT103 has a firewire port we connected directly to the g5.
Tried launching from disk warrior cd, when trying to recover the disk.
I updated our protools - maybe that will prevent it happening again - it's a little disconcerting though...

I´ve seen these Glyph FW-things fail before. Have you tried the other FW-ports on the glyph rack?
Try to take out all the drives and mount them one by one so narrow down the drive that causes the error. Try the other ports on the rack and the other ports on the G5. Swap the cables and see what happens.

frank.

Thanks Frank,
Yes I did try all of that and know which drives specifically failed.
It's a worry - backing up more than once or maybe twice a day would just inhibit workflow a bit too much in my opinion, but I wouldnt want to lose the 30gig or so data we are recording on any given day during this particular session....
