Default 6.9 Vs 6.7 for CPU usage

I have 2 boot drives. At some point, there will be different things installed on each as I plan to have one with soft synths and one that has a "clean" uncluttered PT volume for use when clients are here.

But for right now, Each has an identical version of Win XP. Each has nothing other than PT added after formatting and installing WIN XP on each drive. The only difference is one has PT LE 6.7 (cs8); the other has been upgraded to 6.9. Audio is on a third (SATA) dedicated audio drive.

Buffer settings are the same; prefs are the same in both PTs. But a large session with heavy edits, lots of plugins and full 32 tracks will choke on 6.9. The very same session, with no changes made will play just fine. And just as a test, the session can even have a few more plugins added on 6.7.

So what's the difference between 6.7 and 6.9?

Default Re: 6.9 Vs 6.7 for CPU usage

Interesting...On my system, I noticed that 6.7 was more cpu-hungry than 6.4, but saw no change from 6.7 to 6.9. I still run 32+4to6 stereo aux tracks with little trouble.
