Hi Everybody,
My midi config has been driving me mad for nearly three weeks, here is the situation: I have a sonic cell, a dell laptop with windows 7 64 bits, A digidesign Mbox2. Latest drivers (1.00 for win 7 64), firmware (1.20) and sonic cell editor (1.20) and Pro tools 8 LE installed. My goal is to import midi files in order to apply them the sounds from the Sonic Cell. I'm not trying, for the moment to record midi track with a keyboard. First I am confused regarding the hardware config: After having watched a video about "using the SC with pro tools" on Youtube, I first tried to connect the SC through USB with the lines out connected to the inputs of the Mbox as shown in the video. When I select the SC Editor plugin in an instrument track, I can't get no midi signal from the midi tracks read from pro tools to my SC (although the VU of my Midi is moving up and down). However, When I click the "prev" button from the sonic cell editor, I get some sound... So I tried to connect the sonic cell as described under the documentation provided with sonic cell editor 1.20. I keep USB connection of the SC, I plug MIDI in and out of the SC to the MIDI out and in of a separately bought MIDI interface (Cakewalk UMG-2), and then I connect the out of the SC to the inputs of the Mbox2, same problem than upper... No midi signal to the SC when the midi tracks are being read and when I select the SC Editor plugin under an instrument track (although the VU of my Midi is moving up and down)... I also tried other combinations (midi connection directly to the mbox2), but without success... I underline that when I choose another instrument under the instrument track, I get some sound, but not from the SC... I also mention I checked the "midi through" option both in PT and in the SC System. Since I started being very upset with this situation, I decided to consider the problem another way, by using Sibelius and Protools in rewire via the sibelius plugin in protools. Since the Sonic Cell is listed as an execution peripheral under sibelius, I believe I can import the sounds from the Sonic cell this way, can I?? So my question is: HELP please!! I'd just like to import my sounds from the sonic cell the simpliest way. Did I do anything wrong? Thx, A frenchy newbie |
