Default Does anyone scrub with the wheel?

I have tried and tried with S6, S4, and Dock. Scrub performance is identical and mostly useless. It is very wobbly and not responsive. So I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong or if anyone has found a use for it.

For context I used Fairlight systems for 20 years or so. And to be clear I've been using PT for even longer. I very much prefer to edit music while scrubbing. And dialogue but I can get by with a mouse for that. But for example scrub with the wheel then try scrubbing with the mouse. It sounds and feels completely different. Mouse I can actually use to find my edit points. The wheel I give up almost immediately. I guess the main question is why is it so different?

Also I'm not looking for alternative uses for the wheel. Moving the playhead is fine, clip gain whatever. I want to scrub

Like you, I used Fairlight for years. Scrubbing on Fairlight was the only way to edit. There was no mousing about. Pro Tools was never designed as a scrubbing only platform. Strictly point and click. If I were you, I’d start retraining myself away from scrubbing in Pro Tools. You’re never going to find it satisfactory compared to Fairlight.

I get it, I used both side by side for a long time. My big question is why the Eucon scrub doesn't match the mouse scrub.

I never been blessed to use the Fairlight, but 003 console's scrub wheel works flawless.

Dang. I'm a bit disappointed to hear that.

I have a ProControl on an old PT10 system, and I was hoping to get a replacement for the newer system soon.
What is really great about the ProControl are the modifiers on the left, and the wheel on the right, so you can zoom, scroll, scrub, select and edit the selection all without looking.
It feels really natural (to me) and it's really fast to get around.
Not wobbly or unresponsive.

Looking at the dock manual I see they've put the modifiers up on the right vertical strip.
Which I'm guessing means having to look at it more?
Do the S1 modifiers work with the dock's wheel?

You can reassign any button including modifiers

Eddie do you have insight to why the scrub sounds and operates so differently?

I know what you mean I think, and I'm also scrubbing with the mouse.
Yes, it's more exact and faster that way. Kinda strange that the highest quality and biggest UI item on the S6 is one that's used not very frequently. Certainly in comparison to the real estate it covers.

However, my main reason is that the only reason I'm scrubbing is to edit out clips in the waveforms with the pencil, and the modifiers are exactly next to each other. So hit F9 (or whatever it is, I don't look at it) for the scrub tool, then directly afterwards F10 (or whatever it is) for the pencil tool. Probably now you can tell that I'm not coming from Fairlight..

What always happens next is I'm getting mad because clip gain line is still visible and I'm editing that unintentionally first.
Who the hell is actually using the mouse to draw clip gain? My vote goes to a 'pencil tool ignores clip gain line yes/no' preference.

But that' another story..
