Default Native Instrument Maschine with PT8

Does the NI Maschine work with pt8? If so how in the hell do you record it on a track. Called NI and they said it will work but you have to use it in midi mode, but you won't be able to use any of the sounds on the Maschine. Also, what would be the best way to connect? I have it USB's into my Imac.
Should I run it through th 11r? Thanks fellas!

yes it works great. make an instrument track in pro tools and load the machine plug in on it. set the output of the instrument track to a bus. make an audio track to that bus and record.
