That was a long time ago, meant to optimise disk allocation on spinners. This thread however is in 2021 forum.

I realize this thread is old, but I found it as I was researching the exact same behavior on my Windows system. Revc, did you ever find a solution? Thanks!

Default Re: Recording stops with no errors

I don’t have any explaination for this but if I put the play head not at zero the random record stopping doesn’t happen anymore. I could put it to a half a second and then arm and start the recording from there and it is happy and I can record for hours. If I slide it all the way to zero it’ll do this random record stop.

Hope you can work it out. Thank you to all who replied.

At least we know we're each not the only one experiencing the issue. And there may be other Pro Tools users out there experiencing the same thing, but they don't post in here.

Maybe someone up the chain will take another look at this. Perhaps there's something similar in our respective hardware/software ...

Good luck!

Mismatched RAM always raises a red flag for me. I would never use anything but 100% matched(same brand, size and part number). It might be worth pulling one of the brands of sticks to see if anything changes

I can’t recall the brand of memory I used but it was a main stream matched set. Crucial or Corsair if I’m not mistaken.

albee1952, I finally had a chance to try your suggestion (pulled half the memory so just one brand was left in the PC). That seemed to do the trick. I *was* able to record from zero. Thanks again! :)
