Default Icons have changed???

Hey,

I have a DIGI 002 System with Pro Tools LE 7.1cs7 with the Music Production Toolkit. I'm using a Dual-Core 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 with 4.5 GB of Ram running Tiger 10.4.6. In addition I also have a PowerBook G4 1.33 with 2GB of Ram running the same version of Tiger running Pro Tools 6.9.2cs4.

My question is, right after I installed the latest Apple Security a lot of my Icons have changed from a simple white document like type of Icon (with the Fold in the upper right corner) to a Unix Icon when I do a "Get Info" on these changed Icons it now say it's a "Unix Executable File".

Some of the files that have been modified are the "Xpand!.dat, Hybrid (in the Digi Plug-Ins folder), SampleTank 2.1 Instrument folder (within the individual Instrument folders themselves)", etc... There are too many files to list but you get the picture. From what I see, the change in these files does not effect the performance of these programs and plug-ins themselves and the change in Icons has happened to both of the Computers.

I spoke to a DIGI Tech and the person I spoke with said that he was unaware of this issue. I also spoke to Apple and got the same response. I wanted to post this question to see if anyone else is having this weird situation happening to them.

Thanks for your help

The files haven't been modified, just the application that is 'associated' with them thus the icon change. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Slim,

Not to split hairs, but if the original file was a plain white document type of icon, and you do a "get info" on the file, and it says "document".

Then after the Apple Security Update and the plain white document has now turned into a Unix icon & if you do a "get info" on this file and it now says Unix Executable file, I would consider that "modified".

Slim is correct - the files themselves have not been modified other than the association for which application would open the file if you were to double click on it (which you don't want to do anyways) has changed.

Nothing to worry about.

Have you tried repairing permissions?

Digi Tech Support,

Thanks for your reply. That's what I figured. Have you seen this Icon change down at DIGI or with other users?

Thanks Again!!

P.S.

ricupad,

Thanks but I always repair disk permissions. This did not help the above situation.
