Default Toggle Mix and Edit windows

the keyboard shortcut Control+Equal (=) doesn't work on my laptop
the equal sign I have is only available with Shift+Zero (on the top row of the keyboard)
are there any simple workarounds? is it possible to assign it to something else? a function key?

You can show edit/mix by using the Windows shortcut via the main file menu using Alt:

Alt+W+M - Mix Window
Alt+W+E - Edit Window

You could also remap "Ctrl+=" using AutoHotKey.

If you pick a shortcut key combo, I'll create an AHK executable for you that will remap it to your new shortcut of choice.

Thanks

Alt+W+M - Mix Window
Alt+W+E - Edit Window
doesn't seem to work either (and pretty cumbersome anyway)

how about an AHK shortcut -
Alt+E - Edit Window
Alt+M - Mix Window

Although Alt+M seems to have a merge function assigned to it, I wouldn't need that

It's a toggle so it will have to be one key command. You have 1 minute to decide before I upload the compiled executable and make it Ctrl+-(minus).

Here is your remapped key for your laptop. Ctrl+-(minus) will toggle the Mix/Edit Window.

Double click the executable to run. It will show up in your system tray. Right click the icon in the system tray to exit. Shift+Esc when in Pro Tools will toggle bypass the remapped key command in case there is a problem. When the script is bypassed, the system tray icon will be red.

Here is your AHK source code for any future changes you may need to make:

Code:
Menu, tray, tip , Mix/Edit Toggle

#IfWinActive ahk_class DigiAppWndClass

#CommentFlag //

// Take away standard menu such as suspend, pause etc & add context menu exit.

Menu, tray, NoStandard

Menu, tray, add, E&xit
Return

E&xit:
exitapp

// Assigns the toggle-suspend function to Shift+Esc.

+Esc::Suspend

// Remaps Ctrl+=(equal) to Ctrl+-(minus)

^-::
SendInput, {CTRLDOWN}={CTRLUP}
return
Hope that helps.

Thanks very much! - I'm on my way out and can't try it out now. Back later if problems.

Keep me posted if it works. It's working in XP and W7 64 on my end so you should be fine.

ahh, well, I did this, the icon is on the tray, but after starting up ProTools and I try Ctrl+- nothing happens. Shift+Esc does turn it red, and right clicking on the icon does bring up the Exit command.

By the way (if/when it does work ...) would I have to load this from the .exe file I downloaded everytime I want to use this in ProTools?
