Default blast of white noise at end of \'bounce-to-disk\' track

I've had this problem before, & never found the solution: If I do a bounce-to-disk, I sometimes end up with a short blast of (very loud) noise at the end of the track. This seems to happen most if I'm doing quick mixes, with no fade outs. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

Mike, I'm suddenly getting it too. I've read through all related posts and I've come to some conclusions. The very last post on the subject had the digidesign guy (Brent) asking for more info and nobody gave him any! This noise blew me out and my ears rang for 2 days. I was prety upset. When I have a little more time I'm going to post a bunch of things for Brent that I think narrows it down a little.

For now, just keep the volume down and your guard up!

OK, thanks for the soundfile chompers. That's definitely white noise. Not what I'm getting. I'm getting the shreik of full-scale-beyond hi-frequency death. Some of the posts I read through were discussing the same 2 problems in the same threads... implying the noise happens in the same way, just different noises. I wonder if they are brought on by different circumstances. The white noise would certainly be easier on the ears.

thanks all for your replies, I'll try changing DAE playback buffer size. I suspect that tracks to be BTD'd need to have a complete master fader fade out within the parameter of the bounce region, but I haven't had a chance to test this theory.
Chompers re your mp3 - thats the sound alright!

For the record..
I have experienced Both of the bad sounds..the white noise and the Screech of Hell.

TH escreech of hell is a seriuos issue. the white noise at the end of a mix seems to be an easy work around. Not that Im going to follow the Digi answerbase and re-import all the tracks and re-create all the aux and master faders..!!?? WHat are smoking. Just change the bounce selection ...THat seems to fix it well.

The white noise is just a pain when you are in a hurry, and you get the bad mix.

THe screeck-feedback thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I have also been getting this problem on and off for the past year.
It's totally unpredictable as far as I can see, and after burning a few CDs for clients and having what's left of my hearing depleted even more, I devised a cunning workaround.
This involves importing the file back into PT, and trimming the white noise off, before exporting.
I think it's just a bug. Other than that, PTLE kicks arse!!
You can't have everything in life; where would you put it all?
