Default how to generate visible tc window in PT?

Is there a way to generate a visible timecode window within protools? Spectral audio workstations had this capability. Protools, using quicktime, does not appear to have it. The USD should have video I/O on it and TC window capability. A very simple function. I'm asking this because my Horita WG-50 is busted. Thanks.

MOTU's digital timepiece can do this. Or if you're making quicktimes in house, just set the character generator one on you video deck. But, within protools... nope.. Sucks. It would be a really nice option though. If you have adobe or finalcut you can import the video file and add timecode as a window burn in.

Cheers

The Sync I/O can do a window burn.. the USD can't.

The USD will do it using an external video source, not quicktime.
Are you using a Canopus for firewire out video, or are you using the PT quicktime window???
If its the former you can wire the Canopus composite out into the USD and USD ou to your TV.

Yeah, Georgia, I know about Final Cut, but doesn't Final Cut have to RENDER the timecode window -- in my case for 20 minute reels, five of them. As i recall, the render time is a killer.

I am currently posting a 10 minute short and I have the exact same issue. I know it is not the solution you seek, but I simply turn on the Big Counter (apple+3) when I play the picture. It works in a pinch and everyone else in the room can see the numbers as well. Otherwise, as far as I am aware, there is no way to insert tc window burn on a QT file inside PTools.

I seem to recall achieving that goal using Adobe Premiere. I don't remember the exact procedure. It has been a while.

Gallery's new VirtualVTR Pro can generate window burns in real time over video, both on the Mac screen, and also via many popular Video Output cards/devices (inc. Decklink, Igniter X, Pipe etc, plus DV boxes in many cases on fast CPUs).

The Burn can include Timecode , Feet + Frames, plus free text, like a Copyright notifier. It also includes the ability to generate Streamers, and 3,2,1 Punches.

Mr Gallery is forgetting to mention his software can also instantly create a timecode track layer in quicktime, though there is basically no control over the font, size, etc. Pretty cool, though.

This is so cool, I'm speachless.... Avid Express and FCP all need to render at very large amounts of time and none of my low budget editors seem to be able to generate a burn or know what it's suposed to be (like 01:00:00:00 for FFOA).
10 stars
