Only one that I can find that has one is the Avid 670 in the Complete Plugins bundle.

Yes, but that doesn't behave correctly. It seems to use the "key" input & the source material. .

Are you saying the sidechain uses both the external sidechain along with the internal sidechain (if you have an external sidechain feeding into the plugin)? Please explain.

With LAT/VERT engaged & a signal going in the key input, behaviour is not as required. .
Try it. On a stereo channel obvs . .

Seems to me there isn't really an external sidechain capability with the 670. .
Unlike other compressor plugins, which all have either a "key" or "external" button.
If it was properly implemented it would have a "key" or "ext" button + a toggle to select which path the sc is acting on. LAT or VERT.

You should have specified that you're working in mid/side. In regular stereo it works as it should. I know of no s/w compressor that does m/s and has external side chain that has a selection switch like you ask for.

Avid. Any chance of this being implemented ?
I have a feeling it might well be popular.
And while you’re at it… ADC & stereo side chains please …
Thanking.
After all… your software is called “Pro” Tools.

Seeing this thread just made me realise that the two Fairchilds I have from Waves and IK don't actually have a sidechain either... WTF?!?

I do have the SPL Iron though. It's fundamentally based on a similar design, but they took it a lot further. It, at least, has a sidechain and by setting it's Bias to High and choosing a good Rectifier setting you can kind of get close. As long as you aren't one to split hairs!!
