XP Media Edition with pro tools and M-Audio???
Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I know that pro tools and M-Audio doesn't support XP Media Center, BUT.... ...has anyone tried using them with Media Center? Just wondered what problems they had or if it wouldn't install at all? I'm about to purchase a whole package and didn't want to have to install XP home and loose all the stuff on my PC that I've got already and also have to pay £150 for the software. Any info that people may have would be a great help, i really wanted to use pro tools, but I'm starting to think about going down a different route. Thanks you in advance for your help Shane |

Re: XP Media Edition with pro tools and M-Audio???
Well the ONLY thing I was able to do with Pro Tools in Media Center Edition was start it up . I also know that M-Audio and other MIDI controllers simply wont work on media center. I had to spend 200$ bucks on Windows Xp home edition and I'm afraid you're going to have to do the same.

I was affraid someone was going to say that
Thanks for replying anyway Eddie666 Thats £150 on top of my budget, i don't want to have to but cheaper drum mics. So you managed to install XP Home on your Media Center computer? I read another thread where someone said the chipset was different. Have you had any problems since you've changed over to XP Home? |

Re: XP Media Edition with pro tools and M-Audio???
Hi
I use on my laptop Protools M-Powerd 7.3 with Windows Media Center. I know that Digidesign and M-Audio don't recomand this but for me it's work very well. Also my laptop is "not suported" but work without problems.(Acer Aspire 5110,1gb Ram-M-Audio Transit) I think you can try. Good luck, Catalin |

Re: XP Media Edition with pro tools and M-Audio???
Cheers Catalin,
I'll give it a try before i do anything to my PC. I'm thinking of having removable hard drives so i can keep a hard drive dedicated to recording and XP home, then when i want my normal PC back, i just switch the drives But if i can save the expense, even better |
