Default New Mac/PT Advice

Hi Folks
Apologies if I'm posting this in the place/forum. Site's a little confusing if not familiar.

I am currently running PT 10.2.0 on a MacPro OS 10.6.8 (YEP! ANCIENT RIG!) and looking to maintain it while simultaneously looking to set up a more powerful new system that is laptop based and need advice on the process:
1. Do I need to buy a new PT License as crossgrading will delete my current version?
2. Is this machine compatible: https://www.apple.com/shop/bag
3. Will I need an additional iLok for this separate system?
4. Will my Apogee Symphony Maestro 2 with USB connectivity work?

If I AM posting this in the wrong please advise on where it should go. If not I am absolutely appreciative of any/all assistance in getting this new rig up. Kind of on a bit of a time crunch as well and need to have this mobile rig up and running in the next week.

Sorry, bit late to this one and I can't help much but here's a start.

1) I don't know - although a reseller can probably answer this if you call them up.
2) That link takes me to MY apple bag - so you need to post the specs
3) Yes, unless you want to use iLok cloud on the second system - which means having an always-on internet connection. I'd recommend a second iLok. (This is all assuming you get to keep the original 10.2.0 license when you crossgrade, which might not happen). The current versions of PT require iLok 2 or 3 (I think) so your old iLok may not work anyway.
4) Maestro is the software. Which Apogee Symphony do you have, and what connectivity does it have (HD option card? Digilink?). If it's just USB then it should work with PT or PT ultimate but again - post the specs and someone can confirm.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Compatibility info here. Unfortunately if you want to keep using your PT10 license you cannot buy a new computer, because new operating systems need a more current PT version.

Regarding the license, you can use one license on one system at the time, so if you need to use two systems at different times it is okay (just move the ilok to another computer) but if two systems need to be running simultaneously you need two licenses and two iloks.

Crossgrading to subscription will make you lose your PT10 but if you can find a reseller that still has "reinstatement" codes to get your support and update plan current, you will retain your perpetual license and should have ability to run PT10 as well as current version. Do not buy the cheaper "renewal" code, it will not work as you do not have active (current) support and update plan. Avid stopped selling "reinstatement" codes some time ago, they only sell "renewal" codes for customers with active plan.

Apogee compatibility you can find out from apogeedigital.com
