Default Bar|Beat Marker - Beat Detective

I've got the structure of my session sectioned off by markers. I am now trying to adjust the tempo of each individual section of the structure so that the beginning of each section corresponds with the bar|beat markers using beat detective. I got the first one (1>2) to work fine, so now I've got other sections that are starting at a point that doesn't line up with the grid. For example, section 3 starts at 32|1|440 instead of 32|1|000. When I try to adjust the other sections, say 2>3 or 3>4 etc., I am getting the following error:

the bar|beat marker(s) could not be created because they are either too close or too far apart from a neighboring bar|beat marker to support a valid tempo.

Any ideas how to get this to work?

Thank you,

Adam

I would use Identify Beat (command + I).

separate the section of the songs by splitting the waveform into different regions. (command + E to split at selection). You can use "Tab to transient" to quickly find the down beat of a section. if you select the section of the song, press command + I, and tell Pro Tools what measure numbers the start and end points are supposed to be at, Pro Tools will make the tempo line up with the song.

You might need to erase whatever tempos you already have plotted in your tempo map. Also, if you're unable to identify beat, toggle the "conductor" icon in your transport.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Glenn, I wound up obtaining a tempo map and used Identify Beat and everything worked out.

Thanks again!
