Here is a quote from the Microsoft administrator on this microsoft forum http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/For...d-08f29df3507c
Quote:
Since my post seems to have scrolled off in some way and people are NOT seeing it, I want to reemphasise again:

DO NOT COPY THESE FILES TO SYSTEM32.

The Norton warning is incorrect. Norton have been notified, and are working on fixing their problem. You safely can and should ignore this warning

a) Do NOT copy msvcr80, msvcp80 or msvcm80 to system32, or to the framework directory, or to the VS directory. They do not belong in any of those places. Similarly, do not copy blank or empty files to these locations.

b) If you've already put the files in these places, please delete them.

c) You can safely tell WinDoctor to ignore this problem.

d) If you're working with Microsoft support and not getting a clear answer, have them talk to me.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have more questions. Similarly, if you distrust my identity, feel free to email me directly (address below).

Apparently Outlook and Norton WinDoctor can also have this problem.

There is a LOT missing from that. The computer Overview that is required from these instructions:

Note: To enable other users to help you, please include all of your system details when posting an issue to the DUC; Pro Tools hardware, Pro Tools software version, CPU, OS version, Motherboard make/model, chipset, amount of RAM, type of hard drives used, etc.

- Please - Use SiSoftware's Sandra Lite application to generate a full system profile:

www.sisoftware.co.uk

Under SiSoftware Sandra, click on "Download & Buy" to download the free Sandra Lite version or purchase other versions. After installing Sandra, click on the 'Hardware' tab and run the 'Computer Overview', then copy and paste into your post here on the DUC.
Outputs very specific information that we need to know to be able to help you. (It's why it was asked for). What you posted only contains a fraction of what is produced by that report. If this is what is output from Sandra, then there is something wrong with your general computer.

Just thought about letting it run in a 32bit environment on a 64 bit sytem.

Gonna try somethings and I keep you posted

Again, I agree.

No 64 bit operating system is currently compatible with Pro Tools.
Vista IS compatible, but only the 32 bit version, NOT the 64 bit version. (this might be where the confusion lies)
It may be soon, but IMHO, no educational institution should be telling you that it is.

Isn't there a possibility to run the program in a 32bit environment???

THANKS a lot I am gonna discuss this with my education and hope that the will have a good explanation and a proper solution for me!

Pro Tools has NEVER been 64-bit compatible in any way shape or form, and Digi clearly lists it as NOT SUPPORTED. Your school REALLY should have known.

There are also some other things to consider about your system:

I can't really tell from this which drive you are using (or will be using) for Pro Tools audio. The F: drive is too slow, and it appears that both the F and G drives are USB/SATA300? Pro Tools does not support using USB drives for Pro Tools audio. The G drive is also formatted as FAT32, which is no longer supported for Pro Tools use. F: and G: also have low cache values.

You will definitely want a new physical drive for your audio sessions. (a partition on the 1TB will not do, it has to be a separate physical drive. If it must be external, it needs to be either firewire or eSATA.
