Default Mbox 2 Pro audio cuts out

Hi there,
I have seen quite a few post concerning audio cutting out on Mbox Pro, 2, 3 models...
I have an Mbox Pro2 hooked up via firewire to my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. It has always worked fine then out of the blue it started cutting out audio after a few minutes playing itunes or ableteon or any audio playback program. The firewire seems to be still on although sometimes lights to the Mbox Pro2 seem to cut out altogether.

I have updated firewire drivers to the (2&3) models of Mbox Pro
updated firmware
updated all my applesoftware

also after I change the clock source from internal to clock and back internal audio will start playing back again but then it will cut out after a few minutes.

Driving me insane and I have a show next week. Considering ditching the digidesign hardware if this continutes although some forums have suggested it is an Apple issue.

Any help please!!!!

Can you post your full system specs? What driver version are you running? I think the other threads you are referring to are Mavericks 10.9+, that should not be the same problem you're having. Did you do any changes to your setup when the problem started (OS updates, new software, drivers etc)? You might want to try another firewire cable too.

MacBook Pro

Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Mbox Pro2

ProTools LE 8

Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core !7
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk Macintosh HD

I totally need to try a new firewire cable. Probably will get one today. I figured it works b/c usually the light stays on on the mbox pro 2 although rarley it cuts out completely.

I updated my driver after the problem started to what the avid website lead me to which was an update Mbox pro2 and 3 users. Not sure how to find which driver I am using thoough.

The odd thing is now it has been working all day today (been working on music for a solid 3 hours) Gonna try the new firewire , thanks
